Investigation Ongoing in Pine Co. Car-Pedestrian Fatal Crash
A fatal accident in northern Pine County is under investigation by the county Sheriff’s Department and Attorney’s Office. Pine County Sheriff Mark Mansavage tells Red Rock Radio that Garry Wayne Johnson, Jr., 30, of Finlayson was killed as the result of injuries suffered when he was struck by a car while walking on County Road 39 in Rutledge roughly 1.5 miles west of Highway 61.
The Pine County Sheriff’s Department, Willow River Fire Department, and Pine Medical EMS responded to the accident which occurred around 11:35 p.m. on Saturday, April 10th.
Johnson was transported to the Pine Medical Center in Sandstone where he was pronounced dead on Sunday, April 11th.
The Sheriff’s Office describes the driver as a 51-year-old female. Her name is not yet available.
Mansavage said blood tests were taken from both the driver and Johnson.
Memorial services for Johnson are scheduled for Saturday, April 17th at 11 a.m., with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. at the Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home in Moose-Lake.
Johnson is survived by his son DeAndre, parents Garry and Ginny, sister Rachel Johnson, and special friend Michelle Bearl.
