Congressional Art Competition Exhibits on Display in Pine City
Washington DC – The 2010 Congressional Art Competition is less than a week away and Congressman Jim Oberstar would like to extend an open invitation to visit the North West Company Fur Post in Pine City starting on April 18th between 12:00-5:00pm for an exhibit of high school artwork. On April 17th, an art committee will select one piece of artwork to be sent to the U.S. Capitol where it will be displayed for one year alongside artwork from every congressional district around the country. Artwork from high school students around the 8th District will be on display at the Fur Post between April 18th-21st (open 12:00-5:00pm on Sunday, 10:00am-5:00pm Monday-Wednesday).
The Congressional Art contest is an annual event sponsored by members of the U.S. House of Representatives through the Congressional Art Caucus and is a great opportunity for high school students to compete with their peers across the 8th District of Minnesota for a chance to have their artwork displayed in the U.S. Capitol.
If you have questions, I would encourage you to get in touch with Melissa Jabas in Congressman Oberstar’s North Branch office for further information, 651-277-1234.
