The Pine City Council ultimately decided to move into the first floor of the Old Pine County Courthouse to open up space for an expansion of the library at what used to be city hall.   Mayor Jane Robbins said during Wednesday’s city council meeting that the move seems to have sparked extra excitement for the library project and people are starting to pull out their checkbooks.

The library still needs to raise about $78,000 for the expansion, having raised over $320,000 since the effort began in November.  Robbins said the library receive another $2,600 in donations this week alone.

Councilman and member of the Pine City Library Board, Brian Scholin, told the council that the board met with contracts recently on the project.  He said they hope to meet with other contractors soon to come up with more ideas.
