Local Vigil Planned to Mark 250 Days of Detention
Family, friends, and supporters of Pine City resident Cindy Hickey are asked to attend a vigil on Sunday, April 11th to mark the 250-day anniversary of her son Shane’s detention in Iran.
Shane Bauer is one of three Americans being held in an Iranian prison. He was arrested with his friends Sarah Shourd and Josh Fattal on July 31st. The families of the Americans say they were arrested after accidentally crossing the Iran border while hiking in Iraq.
Iranian authorities allowed Shane Bauer and the two others to call home for the first time in March. According to Iranians authorities Bauer and Fattal, both 27, are being held in the same cell. Shourd, 31, is in her own cell but is able to meet with the others two on a daily basis.
Hickey said in a sit down interview with Red Rock Radio in March that she continues to remain hopeful, despite not seeing her son in over two years.

The upcoming Vigil will take place in Robinson Park at 1 p.m.
A similar vigil was held in Pine City in November. See a recap here.
