Monday, March 29th, 2010 at 6:44 am

oberstarCongressman Jim Oberstar will make a pair of area stops on Monday.  The first is scheduled for North Branch where he will take a look at the ongoing construction of the Highway 95 project.  North Branch City Engineer Julie Dresel said in November that the plan is to work through the spring of 2011, but hopes to have traffic moving on the full lanes in the fall of 2010.  Funding for the $10.6-million  project includes federal, state and city money.

Oberstar’s second stop is in Pine City.  He will meet with local leaders at the Pine County Courthouse regarding the safety of Highway 70.  The highway has been the site of several serious accidents over the past few years, including a fatal on News Year’s Day.

Oberstar serves as the chairman of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.
