Grass Fire Stretchs Over a Mile Between Rush City and Harris
A grass fire in Chisago County covered about a mile-and-a-half along I-35 Monday afternoon. Fire Departments from Rush City, Harris, North Branch and the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources responded to the blaze.
No one was injured and DNR Forestry Technician Greg Wuerflein said there was minimal property damage.
Wuerflein says the cause of the fire is not yet known.
Wuerflein said the fire was “very hard to stop.” The DNR also used a helicopter to help put out the fire which burned for about two hours.
Wuerflein adds that the recent dry conditions played a significant role in the fire.
