Blake Charles Nelson Pleads Guilty to Two Charges of Aggravated Robbery
County Attorney Janet Reiter announced that Blake Charles Nelson, 20, of Stacy, plead guilty on March 22nd to two counts of Aggravated Robbery in the First Degree in Chisago County District Court. The charges stem from separate incidents eight months apart.
The first incident, on January 23, 2009, occurred at Rick’s Liquor Store in Wyoming. Nelson and another man entered the liquor store wearing masks to hide their identity. Nelson had an assault rifle, pointed it at the clerk and demanded money. The clerk gave the other individual about $3000 and the two fled. They were apprehended a short time later.
The second incident, on September 11, 2009, occurred at the Riverview Conoco station in Taylors Falls after Nelson had posted $150,000 bail on the prior charge. Nelson came into the Riverview Conoco about 8:40 p.m. wearing an orange ski mask and carrying a 9 millimeter semi-automatic pistol. He then chambered a round, threw a bag at the cashier and demanded all the money. He pointed the gun at the cashier and a patron, and, after receiving the money, fled the store.
Nelson stashed the gun, mask, and money under a tree near the Taylors Falls Community Center where the police found it. The police then staked out the area and apprehended Nelson later when he came back to retrieve the items.
Nelson will be sentenced by Judge John McBride on May 3, 2010 at 1:00 p.m.
