Pine City Wins Conference Speech Meet

Ogilvie hosted the Great River Conference Speech Meet on Tuesday, and Pine City came away with their second conference title is as many years.

The local students, led by head coach Beth Steinleitner, lead the 7-team field by an astonishing margin – accumulating 62 points – with Ogilvie trailing at a distant second with 38 points.

Pine City had the distinction of having a student place in each of the 13 categories, and 20 of 25 speakers placed in the top five in their respective category.  Five speakers took first place honors, and Aaron Nisley, Josh Palmer, and Trevor Clune repeated as section champions for the second year in a row.

Other area schools: Rush City placed fifth with 19 points, Hinckley-Finlayson placed sixth with 17 points, and Braham finished in seventh place with 3 points.
