Rosemount, MN – Minnesota Energy Resources is promoting its Water Heating Saver Program in your area. The program will provide free hot water reduction kits to residential customers for the installation of low flow showerheads and aerators with a goal to reduce natural gas use for water heating. Minnesota Energy Resources residential customers will have the option of selecting between two kits which offer a combination of showerheads and faucet aerators.

All active residential natural gas water heating customers in existing homes, including renters, are eligible for the program. This program will not be available for new construction projects. The program is limited to one kit per household. To qualify customers must have a natural gas water heater.

“”Switching to low-flow showerheads can save a typical residential customer about 10% each year in water heating costs and reduce water consumption by 40%,” said Ann Carlon, Minnesota Energy Resources External Affairs Manager, “In today’s economy, even a little savings is a good thing, not to mention the environmental benefit.”

Customers can learn more about the kits and request a kit on Minnesota Energy Resources’ Website at: www.minnesotaenergyresources.com/home/water_conservation.aspx.
