Ex Mora Officer Charged with Terroristic Threats

Tuesday, March 23rd, 2010 at 5:05 am

A former Mora police officer was charged Monday with making online threats to Mora Mayor Greg Ardner, as well as city council members and the city administrator.

Steven Hoberg, 49,  faces four counts of terroristic threats, each carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison.  It’s alleged that Hoberg made posting on the website craigslist saying that the city leaders were  “four people I want to see on milk cartons.”

Investigators tracked two postings back to Hoberg’s Mora residence.  Mayor Ardner told investigators that he believed the posts may have come as a result of the city’s recent decision to disband the city police department.

He didn’t deserve to be a policeman in the first place, in my opinion. He appeared to be extremely overzealous as a small town cop, always wearing his bullet proof vest. A little too excited to throw people in jail is what I percieved during my residence there. I always thought he was mentally off. I do believe they should have proceeded with the charges. I refer to him as a “Barney FIFE”.
