Unemployment Rises in NW Wisconsin

Unemployment in Burnett County was up nearly two percent in January, according to numbers released Wednesday by the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development.

The Northwest Wisconsin county saw unemployment rise to 13.1 percent in the first month of the year, up from 11.3 percent in December. That ranks 8th highest in the state.

Polk county’s unemployment rate also rose.  It was at 11.5 percent in January up from 10-percent, which ranks 25th in the state.
