Man Injured During Rendezvous Ride

Picture 2165A DNR official injured a fellow snowmobiler during the Winter Rendezvous in Pine County on February 12th. According to an accident report obtained from the Pine County Sheriff’s Office, DNR Deputy Commissioner Laurie Martinson hit Kale R. Wainer, of Delano, in the St. Croix State Park in Hinckley.

According to the accident report, a snowmobiler hit a tree after loosing control of his vehicle in the woods.  Wainer went to check on the accident when Martinson drove by on a state registered snowmobile, tried to avoid hitting Wainer’s snowmobile, and struck him in the left leg.  The report states Martinson was going approximately 20 mph.

In an story in the Star Tribune, Wainer said his leg is “great.”

According to the accident report, the Martinson suffered no injuries and there were minor injuries to the snowmobiles.  The report says Martinson committed no violations.
