Emergency Food and Shelter Funds for Area Counties

Lakes and Pine recently announced that several local counties will receives thousands of dollars for emergency food and shelter programs.  Kanabec County is poised to receive  $16,390, Pine County over $24,000, and Isanti County $33, 127.

Dawn Beseman of Lakes and Pines talks about how the money will be used.

The funds were allocated by the Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for the Emergency Food and Shelter National Board Program.

Monday is the final day for other non-profit organization who provide food and shelter to households with emergency needs to apply for funding.  Beseman explains.

The checks will be awarded to the local counties next week.
