Basinger Pleads Guilty; Faces 30 Year Sentence
Hinckley resident David Basinger, 38, could spend the next three decades behind bars. He pleaded guilty to two counts of third degree criminal sexual conduct.
Initially, Basinger faced 22 counts including possession of child pornography.
He will be sentenced on March 25th in Pine County Court.
According to the criminal complaint, Basinger took his phone into a Pine City business for a data transfer. Employees at the store found images and videos of minors engaging in sexual acts. One of the videos involved a boy, who is now 10, and a girl, who is now 16, performing various sex acts and another video was of Basinger and the girl engaging in sex.
Pine County authorities conducted a search of Basinger’s Hinckley residence in August where they found pictures of the same children who were found on the phone images and videos.
The complaint states Basinger admitted to authorities that he was the man in the video with the girl.
Basinger went on to tell investigators that the sex acts depicted between the minors was a “birthday present” for the boy, adding it was an “ego boost” for both the boy and girl, according to court records.
The minor girl told investigators that Basinger was helping her get into modeling and the relationship turned sexual in the spring of 2007, when she was 13-years-old.
Both charges carry a maximum penalty of 15-years in prison and $30,000 in fines.
Basinger is being held without bail until sentencing.
