Local Governments Feel the Impact of Cuts
Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty plans to slash about $250 million in payments to local governments in order to balance the state’s budget. Minnesota currently faces a $1.2 billion shortfall.
Pine County will lose about $700,000 due to the cuts, according to the Minnesota Department of Revenue. However, Pine County Coordinator Mark LeBrun says the impact on the county is limited.

Kanabec County is poised to lose $500,000 due to the cuts. Isanti County will lose about $750,000 and Chisago County will see about a $1.4 million cut.
