Valentines day started with a scare in Kanabec Co.  Authorities responded to a 911 call of a woman whose leg was stuck in a pipe on East Maple Avenue in Mora.

According to the Kanabec County Sheriff’s Office, the woman’s right leg was stuck from her knee down in the pipe. The pipe was narrow at the top and became larger approximately one foot down which allowed her foot to bend.

The Mora Fire Department, Kanabec Ambulance, and Mora Utilities responded to the scene. Several tools, such as a chisel hammer, jack hammer, and reciprocating saw were used to cut through the frost and pipe.

The pipe was cut below the victim’s foot which was about four feet below ground. The woman was rescued around 11 a.m.

Medical care was administered and the victim was transported to the Kanabec Hospital. The victim was later flown to a metro area hospital for further medical care.
