Yellow Ribbon Pushes Forward
Pine City’s push towards becoming a “Yellow Ribbon” community took another step forward on Thursday.
A group gathered at Pine City Hall to discuss how to get the effort off the ground. The “Beyond the Yellow Ribbon” campaign is coordinated by Minnesota National Guard to assist service men and women when they return from duty and helping their families.
On Thursday, the group in Pine City elected Jessica Paulson of Pine City as the local chairperson. Paulson will serve as the groups leader in recruiting volunteers and planning efforts to help the military families. She hopes that other local residents will take the time to give to those who are sacrificing their lives for their country.
Paulson is very familiar with how important community support is to families of service men and women. Her husband served in the National Guard for six years and her brother, Kyle Ammann, currently serves in the Army.
She says “Beyong the Yellow Ribbon” is the exact type of program needed for families in the area.
The Pine City “Yellow Ribbon” group will meet again on February 22nd at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall. Everyone interested in volunteering to help military families is welcomed to attend.
If you know of a military family that man need assistance, the group asks that you bring their contact information to the meeting, as well.
