Hockey “the way Beau would want it played” is the theme for an upcoming tournament in Pine City.

A group, led by Cody Youngbauer, has organized the First Annual Beau Berglund Outdoor Charity Hockey Tournament in honor of their late friend.

Berglund passed away last summer after a decade long battle with brain cancer.  He was just 25-years-old.

Youngbauer says he hopes the tournament will remind everyone of the spirit of his former teammate and hockey captain.

The tournament will play four-on-four, shinny hockey rules with four to ten players on each team including a goalie.

Youngbauer wants those that play to remember the event is all about fun and the love of the game, the same reason’s Berglund played.

All the money raised during the tournament will go to the Berglund family.  Honorary t-shirts will be sold during the games for $10.

Ten teams are signed up for the tournament, so far, which will be played February 6th and 7th.  Other teams wanting to register need to do so by February 1st.

I played street hockey with Beau in Dick’s basement when he was only 2 years old with Jade of coarse. I have hoisted the Stanley Cup only once and I had the pleasure of that with Beau and we got to hang out with Jamie Langenbrenner (SPELLING ??) at his cabin on Sturgeon Lake. Any ways Cody or who ever reads this it has been a pleasure knowing the young man and sharing in his life since birth basically and I would be honored to play on any team so let me know how to go about that.
Thanks and long live the memory of Beau.
    Mike

Cody i think its awsome what you are doing beau would be so happy to know that all of his buddies are supporting him. We need to make this an annual thing just to get everybody together playing hockey the way it was meant to be played so nobody forgets about it or him.
