Walmart Donates to Local Organizations
The Pine City Fire Department received a $5,000 check Friday morning from the Pine City Walmart. The funds were awarded during a ceremony at the Superstore. Fire Chief Tom Miller, along will other members of the fire department, accepted the check.
Miller talks about how the money will be used:
Last year, the Fire Department received a $4,000 matching DNR grant to purchase 11 new helmets. Members of the department showed off the new head gear at Friday’s ceremony. The helmets are different colors for identification purposes, which Miller says helps when out of town fire departments provide assistance. Miller adds that most fire units in the region use this coding system.
