Vigil Planned for Detained Hikers
It’s been over four months since the families of Shane Bauer, Sarah Shourd, and Josh Fattal have heard from their loved ones who are being detained in Iran. Next week, they will come together in a show of support at a vigil in Shakopee.
Bauer is a native of Minnesota and his mother, Cindy Hickey, lives in Pine City.
The three Americans will go to trial in Iran said Iran’s Foreign Minister on Monday. They have been in an Iranian prison since July 31st. Their families say they accidentally crossed the Iranian border while hiking in Iraq.
The hikers have been detained are charged with espionage.
The vigil will mark 144 days since Bauer, Shourd, and Fattal were arrested. The vigil will take place at St. Mark’s in Shakopee.
