Public Meeting Monday for Proposed Power Plant
Lent Township residents discuss the proposed Sunrise Energy Power Plant during a special meeting Monday.
The meeting is open to the the public who will have the chance to review and discuss the final draft of a Development Agreement by the Town of Lent and Sunrise River Energy, LLC.
LS Power is working on developing a 726 Megawatt Sunrise River Energy Station just south of North Branch. LS Power estimates the project will create hundreds of construction jobs over the two-year construction period and 25-high paid permanent positions.
However, those against the idea of using fuel oil as a back-up source, potential increase in noise levels, and the source of water.
The Lent Township board is expected to give a final vote on the project on Tuesday. Monday’s public meeting begins at 7 p.m.
