Hockey Team to Honor Fallen Dragon
A life cut short will not be forgotten. Beau Berglund’s spirit and legacy will be honored Thursday when the Pine City/Rush City hockey team retires his jersey prior to the home opener against Duluth Central.
Berglund, 25, passed away on August 7th after a 10 year battle with brain cancer. He was known for his love of sports both outdoor and indoor, especially hockey.
Pine City Hockey Coach Tim Schlichting:
Berglund was diagnosed with cancer when he was 15, but continued to get the most out of life. Schlichting said Berglund was always upbeat and always had a smile on his face. Schlichting adds he was loved by everyone.
A ceremony will take place at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday where former teammates, friends, and family will honor Berglund. Schlichting says his actual #32 jersey will be retired and a special plaque will be given to Berglund’s family.
