Nickey Sentenced for Legion & VFW Break-Ins

nickey-jonJonathan Claire Nickey, 30, of Pine City was sentenced Thursday for a pair of break-ins this summer at the Pine City American Legion and VFW.

Nickey was sentenced to 120-days in the Pine County Jail for third degree burglary, but was given credit for time served.  He has already served over 120 days.  However, Nickey will remain in prison in Faribault for previous crimes.  His prior criminal history includes felony convictions, including two in 2007,  for third degree burglary and assaulting a peace officer.

Nickey was ordered to pay $1,157.47 in restitution to the VFW and $250 to the American Legion. He will also be on probation for five years.

According to the criminal complaint, Nickey broke into the American Legion on July 18th using the back fire door stealing bottles of liquor and beer.

Judge James T. Reuter said, “For a very young guy, you have worked up a pretty significant criminal history.”
