Pine City First Grader Wins $1K Scholarship
A Pine City first grader is one of 15 students across the state picked to receive a $1,000 college scholarship as part of the state of Minnesota’s “Be Creative at Your Library” program. Danielle Cavallin, 6, received her check at Thursday’s library open house.

The Pine City library also received a $500 donation check because Cavallin was picked for the scholarship. The money is for supporting future summer reading programs. Vicki Sorn is the East Central Regional Library Youth Community Services Coordinator and explains how the winners were chosen.
