Finlayson Woman Killed in Friday Crash

A 74-year-old woman from Finlayson was killed Friday evening in a crash in Pine County.  The Minnesota State Patrol identifies the woman as Murl-Wann S. Henkel.

The State Patrol reports, Henkel was driving a 1996 Chrysler Concord and failed to yield to a 2001 Chevy Silverado driven by Christopher Bostrom, 18, of Hinckley.  Bostrom’s vehicle then struck Henkel’s vehicle broadside.

Bostrom suffered minor injuries.

The accident occurred around 5:30 p.m. at Highway 18 and County Road 35.  Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash.

The Pine County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.

Henkel is survived by her husband Donald, three sons Dan (Denise) Henkel of River Falls, WI, Randy (Sue) Henkel of Pine City, and Mark (Rachael) Henkel of Finlayson, and daughter Cindy (John) Pitts of Sandstone.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 19th at 11 a.m. at the Peace Lutheran Church in Finlayson.  Visitation will take place an hour prior to the service and on Wednesday, November 18th from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. at the church.
