WHAT’S THAT ROARING SOUND
Thieves in Germany stole a circus van without realizing there was a lion asleep in the back. Caesar the lion was unhurt and apparently no injuries to the unknown thieves who abandoned the van and it’s cargo of one lion on a Berlin street.
$1 MILLION WET CAR
An unnamed Texas man was driving along I-45 near La Marque Texas when he says he was startled by a pelican then dropped his cell phone then drove his French-built Bugatti Veyron right into a salt marsh. The car was half-submerged in the brine about 20 feet from the road when police arrived.
WORLD’S TALLEST DOG
Guinness World Records officially named Titan, an ailing 4-year-old white Great Dane from San Diego, as the world’s tallest dog. Titan’s official height, as measured by a veterinarian, is 42.25 inches from floor to shoulder. You could add eight inches if official measurements included the head. He weighs in at 190 pounds.
“HOLIDAY” PARADE CANCELLED
Officials in Washington Ohio town canceled their Christmas parade this year to avoid huge legal fees in defending the tradition from possible lawsuits by religious groups. The parade had been run by a private group but they pulled out so the town stepped in renaming the Christmas Parade to a Holiday Parade, but they still faced legal challenges and have dropped the entire idea. However, the name change did not sit well with local church officials, who promptly threatened to boycott the event if it was no longer called “A Christmas Parade.”
HITTING THE STREETS
58 year old grandma Denise Caccamisi, hit the streets looking for a job, literally. She took a sign reading, “Job wanted! Ready to work hard for you! Resumes here!” to the street corners of Memphis. Caccamisi said she applied for more than 200 jobs this year and each time was ignored or passed over for younger, more-educated applicants. Caccamisi dressed Wednesday in a black pantsuit, a zebra-lined coat and diamond-studded glasses. She got an interview with Shelby County Commissioner George Flinn, who said he was impressed with her gumption and needed an assistant.
WHISKEY SPILL
A tanker truck carrying 7,000 gallons of Canadian Club whiskey crashed on US 460 in Kentucky, spilling it’s load the road. Officials said the truck, which was heading for the Jim Beam distillery in Frankfort.
