19-year-old Pleads Guilty to Wyoming Liquor Store Armed Robbery
Demetrius Anthony McGinnis, 19, entered a guilty plea Monday to Aggravated Robbery in the First Degree in Chisago County District Court.
McGinnis admitted before the Honorable John McBride that he was one of four people involved in the armed robbery of Rick’s Liquor store in Wyoming on January 23, 2009. According to the Chisago County Attorneys office, two masked men entered the store with a rifle, while the other two individuals remained in the getaway car. The two masked robbers demanded money from the clerk. They left with approximately $3000 and all four were apprehended shortly thereafter by Wyoming police officers and Chisago County sheriff’s deputies.
Trial in the case was set for October 5, 2009. McGinnis will receive a sentence consistent with the Minnesota Sentencing Guidelines, which depends upon his criminal history. The Chisago Co. Attorneys office anticipates he will be sentenced to 55 months in prison.
A presentence investigation was ordered and sentencing set for November 18, 2009, at 8:30 a.m.
