Two minors were hospitalized Wednesday after a single vehicle accident near the Isanti County Fairgrounds in Cambridge around 5 p.m.

According to a report from the Isanti County Sheriff’s Office, the two injured were passengers in a vehicle driven by Michael Houston, 18, of Harris.  The report states Houston swerved to avoid hitting a gate near the fairgrounds, however, he ran into a fence at a high rate of speed.  The fence is on private property.

The two passengers, one male and one female, were both taken to the Cambridge Medical Center.  The Isanti County Sheriff’s Office did not know their status Thursday morning.  They do not report any injuries to Houston.

The vehicle suffered severe-mostly front end and passenger side damage, according to the accident report.

Leafs towing was called for the vehicle and Houston was cited for trespassing.  The amount of damage to the fence is unknown.

Witnesses told police Houston was driving at speeds of 60 mph, Houston tells police he was driving at 40 mph.

Alcohol is not considered a factor in the crash.
