RECYCLED MONEY
Employees
at the SMaRT recycling plant in Sunnyvale got a surprise Tuesday while sorting the ccans, bottles and paper. All of the sudden cash began flying around the room. In all they found $3200 in cash, collected it in a bucket and turned it over to the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety, which said the cash will go toward the city’s general fund if it is not claimed within 90 days.
ZOO ON WHEELS
Italian police pulled over a car for a routine check and were surprised when driver Francesco Lombardo opened the hatchback. 1700 animals ! nside were 216 budgies, 300 white mice, 150 hamsters, 30 Japanese squirrels, six chameleons and more than 1,000 terrapins. All the animals were sent off to zoos and the smuggler faces a cage of his own.
VISCIOUS DOG
A 3 pound Pomeranian has been kicked out of a Colorado resort town after getting in trouble for biting and other bad behavior. Gizmo has already served 10 days in an animal shelter, for biting a fitness club employee. Owner Melinda Goldrich has been told the feisty little pomeranian must leave Aspen or face the ultimate penalty. Gizmo will be staying with out of town friends. Goldrich was in court Wednesday on a charge of keeping a vicious dog..
OFFICIAL STATE STATUS IN MASS.
Massachusetts lawmakers are debating proposals to give official state status to a number of things. The Fluffernutter could be the official state sandwich. It’s a sandwich made from peanut butter and Marshmallow Fluff, which is made in Lynn, Mass. The committee will also consider a bid to make Necco Wafers the official state candy and a push for the Charleston Chew to become the official state candy bar. There are also proposals for the elephant to be named official state mammal, Red Sox-themed romantic comedy “Fever Pitch” to be named official state movie and “6″ to be named the state’s official number.
