Unemployment Down Across the Region

Local unemployment figures were released for August in Wisconsin.  Burnett and Polk Counties both saw unemployment drop from July.  In Burnett the rate is 9.4-percent down from 9.8-percent a month prior.  However, this is up nearly four-percent from a year ago.

Polk county saw an even greater drop in unemployment.  The rate fell from 9.3-percent in July to 8.8-percent in August.  Unemployment fell in all 72 wisconsin counties.

In Minnesota, the rate in Pine County fell from 9.8-percent to 9.4-percent.  Chisago county also saw improvement as the rate fell from 9.2-percent to 9.0-percent.

Kanabec County has the highest unemployment rate in the area with 11.2 percent, however, that is down from nearly 18-percent earlier in the year.  Isanti’s rate fell 0.4-percent to 8.6-percent in August.
