Man Faces Felonies for Stolen Property
A Pine City man faces a pair of felony charges for possessing stolen property and he tells police deals were made for drugs. Douglas Nelson, 49, was arrested on September 15th for the alleged crimes.
According to the police report, a citizen called in a report that a Corvette was parked outside a residence, which they told police was suspicious. Police responded to the residence on Blue Spruce Street in Pine City, discovered the vehicle was stolen from Shakopee and had the car impounded. Officers also investigated reports of a stolen silver sedan.
Police stopped Nelson in the stolen silver sedan on September 15th. The vehicle came back stolen from Isanti County. Nelson admitted also having possessed the stolen Corvette.
According to the police report, Nelson told police he received the car from another person he was working with and assumed it was stolen because it had a punched ignition. The report also states, Nelson admitted working with the other person on drug deals.
Nelson faces two felony counts of Receiving Stolen Property, each is punishable by up to five years in prison and/or a $10,000 fine. He also faces a misdemeanor charge of stolen property which carries a penalty of 90 days in jail and/or a $1,000 fine.
Nelson is due back in Pine County court on September 25th.
