Cast Announced for Little Shop of Horrors
Cast announced for PCHS fall musical, “Little Shop of Horrors” -Juniors Josh Palmer and Christine Kraft head cast of over thirty.
The cast of Pine City High School’s fall musical, “Little Shop of Horrors,” was announced last week, with juniors Josh Palmer and Christine Kraft landing the roles of Seymour and Audrey, respectively. In the play, Seymour develops a strange and unusual plant that brings fame and fortune to the flower shop in which he and Audrey work. But the plant has a darker side, and soon terror (and hilarity) ensue.
The plant, which appears on stage as series of sophisticated and larger-than-life puppets, is voiced by freshman Adam Martin and
manipulated by Joe Wolf and Britt Gonyea. Other leading roles were awarded to seniors Ben White (Mr. Mushnik) and Andrew Cox (the Dentist). The roles of Doo-Wop Girls, who serve as a sort of modern and sarcastic Greek chorus, include Nicole Sebastian, LeTeshia Hedtke, Katie Nelson, Karina Nordrum, Kathleen Hrdlikca, and Rachel Sparling.
More than 30 students in grades eight through twelve were selected for the cast by a six-member audition committee from 55 who tried out.
Performances of the musical are scheduled for November 13, 14, 20, and 21 at 7:30pm at the Pine City Elementary Auditorium. There will also be a matinee performance on November 15 at 2:30pm, with a special backstage tour for families beginning at 1:30pm. Advanced tickets will be available at several area businesses beginning in mid-October. The musical is directed by Bradley Mariska and assisted by Sandri Frerich, Jay Schueller, and Jennifer Krinke.
