LGA Cuts Part of Challenge in Setting Levy
The Pine City council will meet on Wednesday and on the agenda is discussion regarding the preliminary levy. The final preliminary levy must be set by September 15th. Pine City, like many cities around the state, faces unique challenges this year because of cut backs to local government aid.
City Administrator Don Howard
Howard says state statute does allow cities to recoup the 2008 and 2009 unalloted loss by using a special levy. The city council determines how much of they want to get back. Howard says it could be half of the cut funds or all of them. Wednesdays council meeting begins at 6:30 p.m.
