Pine City Fall Musical: Little Shop of Horrors
Pine City High School is proud to announce its fall musical, the Broadway classic “Little Shop of Horrors.” The show, which was also made into a successful film starring Steve Martin and Rick Moranis, will be staged in Pine City from November 13 to November 21.
“Little Shop of Horrors” focuses on a down-and out skid row floral assistant who becomes an overnight sensation when he discovers an exotic, mysterious plant he names “Audrey II.” Soon Audrey grows into an ill-tempered, R&B-singing carnivore.
One of the longest-running Off-Broadway shows of all time, this affectionate spoof of 1950s sci-fi movies has become a house-hold name, thanks to film version and a score by the songwriting team of Howard Ashman and Alan Menken, who redefined the animated musical film with Disney’s “The Little Mermaid” and “Beauty And The Beast.” Charming, tuneful, and hilarious, “Little Shop Of Horrors” promises to be the event of the year.
Performances of the musical will take place on November 13, 14, 20, and 21 at 7:30pm. A special matinee will take place on Sunday, November 15 at 2:30pm, including a backstage tour for families before the performance.
Theatre fans should also mark their calendars for an evening of One-Acts, which will take place in late January. Pine City’s One-Act Play has advanced to the Section Contest each of the past two years.
