Congressman Obey Confident in NLX

Dave_ObeyCongressman Dave Obey from Wisconsin says he does believe the Northern Lights Express will become a reality.  Obey is the Chair of the Appropriations Committee and a supporter of the high speed rail line from Duluth to Minneapolis with stops in Pine County and Wisconsin.  Obey says the finished project still has work ahead, but believes it will happen.

The Northern Lights Rail Alliance has met in Pine City the last few months for their monthly meeting.  Last week,  MN/Dot announced it plans on applying for $45-million for the rail line by 2010.  The project includes preliminary engineering and design work.  The application is due to the Intercity Passenger Rail Forum in St. Paul by the spring.
