Judge Denies Bail Reduction Request

Monday, July 27th, 2009 at 12:28 pm

nickey-jonJudge Krista Martin denied a request to reduce bail for the man accused of burglarizing the Pine City American Legion.    Jonathon Nickey, 30, made the request Monday in Pine County Court. He is charged with third degree burglary for breaking into the Pine City American Legion on Saturday, July 18th.

The Brainerd resident allegedly broke into the American Legion using the back fire door stealing bottles of liquor and beer.  Repairs are expected to cost a couple hundred dollars.

Nickey said in court last week that he plans on taking the case to trial because of lack of evidence.

Nickey does has previous felony convictions, including two in 2007, one for third degree burglary and the other for assaulting a peace officer.

Thank you Judge Martin for not lowering bail. He is a repeat offender who has not learned from his past offenses. Let him sit in jail and wait his turn to prove there is supposedly no evidence. If there was no evidence, I doubt he’d be where he is now. Thank you for allowing common sense to rule. This man needs to learn some respect.
