[Audio/Gallery] Special Olympics in Pine City ‘A Hit’
Pine City hosted the Special Olympics, Saturday, at the softball fields behind the High School. Organizers were expecting 150 athletes, but Special Olympics Program Manager, Kelly Monicatti says the final total is closer to 200 competitors. Athletes from across Minnesota and Wisconsin competed in team and individual softball events.
Monicatti talks about the different competitions:
This is the first year the games are in Pine City, which were previously hosted in North Branch. Monicatti says Pine City’s facilities make it a great place to hold the games, and expects to come back in the future.
