150+ Competitors Expected at Special Olympics in Pine City

specialolympicsmnPine City is getting ready to host the Special Olympics this weekend at the softball fields by the high school.   Over 150 competitors are expected to participate in various events throughout the day.  This is the first year the games are in Pine City, which were previously hosted in North Branch.  Special Olympics Program Manager, Kelly Monicatti, says the new location is sparking renewed interest.

The games are still looking for volunteers, specifically umpires for softball. Monicatti says that volunteers play a pivotal role in keeping the events running smoothly.
