Abduction of North Branch Boy Not True
North Branch Police investigated an alleged kidnapping last week in a mobile home park. Now the department is reporting the story is a lie.
After investigating the situation, including a re-evaluation of the alleged crime scene, North Branch Police determined that the information given by the nine-year-old boy is false.
According to a press release issued by Chief Forner, the boy was “A bright and articulate young man who got caught up in a story, not realizing how it would evolve.”
The boy told police he was taken while throwing out the garbage. He then said he escaped by jumping out of the back seat when the car slowed to make a left turn on County Road 30. Authorities issued an alert to all enforcement agencies across the state.
Chief Forner did thank all the assisting agencies and public for their rapid response to the alert
