Franken in Office Means New Position for Pine City’s Petersen
Senator Al Franken officially took office, Tuesday, eight months after the initial election. His swearing in is the start of a new era not only for the one time comedian, but also for a Pine City area resident. Alana Petersen is Franken’s Minnesota State Director. She is in Washington D.C. this week working side-by-side with Minnesota’s junior Senator. Petersen says while the process has been hectic, it’s mostly exciting.
Franken selected Petersen to her current position in April, months before he even knew if he would serve as Senator. She spent the past five years working as the Political Director and Director of Field Operations for Congressman Jim Oberstar. Petersen says her main role is to help set up Franken’s staff and offices across Minnesota. She adds that she will take the concerns of Minnesotans to the Senator.
Petersen is a lifelong Minnesota resident. She says that she is proud to represent the Pine City area on a national level.
