Lake Superior Laundry Takes National Spotlight, Tuesday
Lake Superior Laundry in Pine City is getting ready to take the national stage next week. Donna Gambrell will tour the facility on Tuesday. Gambrell is the Director of the Community Development Financial Institutions Fund with the United States Department of Treasury. Fifteen others from both the national and regional office are scheduled to join Gambrell.
Customer Service Representative, Bill Nelson, talks about the significance upcoming tour.
The Pine City facility received roughly $1.7 million from the development fund to help in the building of the $4.5 million laundromat. Lake Superior Laundry employs over 40 people and handles laundry mostly for health care facilities in the region including Kanabec Hospital, The Fairview Lakes Medical Center and the Cambridge Medical Center.
Nelson believes Tuesday’s visit gives the Pine City facility a chance to show off the job they are doing.
Lake Superior Laundry in Pine City opened in April of 2007. Nelson says another reason Gambrell will stop by the Pine City laundromat is because it is a green facility. Owner Max Blaufuss says they use 80-percent of their water. They help save energy of heating water by reusing.
