One Dead, Others Injured In Two Thursday Accidents

A 25-year-old man from Osceola died, Thursday, following a motor vehicle crash involving a motorcycle.  The accident happened around 5:15 p.m.

Garret Cardinal was killed after driving his motorcycle into the automobile of Donald Anderson, 79, of St. Croix Falls.  According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Department, Anderson was stopped in traffic on STH 35 attempting to turn left onto 250th Street when he was hit from behind by the motorcycle driven by Cardinal.

Cardinal died at the scene.  A passenger in Anderson’s vehicle, Henry Olivia, 63, was transported to the St. Croix Falls Hospital for medical treatment.

Traffic was re-routed.  the Dresser Fire Department, Osceola Ambulance, St. Croix Falls Ambulance, First Responders, Dresser Polce and Sheriff Personnel responded to the scene.

Two hours earlier, another accident occurred in the same area.  A vehicle driven by Dawn Berger, 30, of St. Croix Falls struck a mini-van driven by Anthony Hansen, 17, of Osceola.  Hansen was attempting to cross STH 25 at 248th Street.

Four of Five passengers in Hansen’s vehicle were transported to the Osceola Medical Center for treatment.  Berger was transported to the St. Croix Falls Hospital.

Both crashes are under investigation, but are not related.
