It’s Showtime for Seussical Jr.

Seussical Jr. opens this weekend at the Rush City High School Auditorium.  The Dr. Seuss Musical brings the stories of Dr. Seuss to life through song and dance.  The show features  characters like The Cat in the Hat and Horton the Elephant.

picture-797“Seussical” is Pine City Community Education’s second-annual summer theater workshop.  “Seussical Jr” is an abbreviated version of the successful Broadway musical based on the Dr. Seuss books “Horton Hears a Who” and “Horton Hatches the Egg.” Students take part in daily acting, singing and dance lessons which culminate in two public performances of the musical with full costumes, sets and music.

picture-781“Seussical is directed by Bradley Mariska, and assisted by Jennifer Krinke, Jess Christensen, Kris Seuntjens, Laurel Martin, Sandra Sparling, Pat Martin, and several other volunteers.  The musical is co-sponsored by Pine Center for the Arts, Pine City Heritage Players, and Rush City Community Ed.

picture-785The cast is led by Adam Martin in the role of Horton the Elephant, who is featured alongside Hannah Kloeckl as Gertrude McFuzz.  Also starring are Ashlee Martini (The Cat in the Hat) and Courtnie Blazek (Mayzie La Bird).  Gabe Gonyea and Lindsey Kline are featured as Mr. and Mrs. Mayor of Whoville, along with Michael Woulfe (JoJo), and Gillian Kolling (Sour Kangaroo).  A total of 36 area students are in the cast.

    i didnt like the dances from oh the thinks you can think i elt like all they were doing was shacking thier bottoms and my school is doing the show and our dances have us going on and off of the stage and everyone smiles and laughs and has fun when we practice when i was watching the video some of the kids were frowning and when your doing suessical jr. you dont frown you smile and laugh and have fun but i think if you did the show again and only used kids who really like it and and have dun with it
