Grand Casino Donating $60K for MS 150 Bike Tour

HINCKLEY, Minn. – Grand Casino Hinckley will donate more than $60,000 worth of services to the 30th annual Larkin Hoffman MS 150 Bike Tour on Saturday, June 13.  Bicyclists will stop in Hinckley during the two-day, 150-mile bike tour from Proctor, Minn. , to the Nowthen Threshing Show Grounds to help fight multiple sclerosis.

This is the 29th year the tour has stopped in Hinckley and the fourth year participants have camped at Grand Casino Hinckley.   Minnesota ’s Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society approached Grand Casino Hinckley in 2005 when it realized West Side Park , the former overnight camping location in Hinckley , could no longer accommodate the growing number of participants.

“The National MS Society is a great organization and a perfect opportunity for us to provide the many services they need to complete this bike tour,” said Mel Towle, general manager for Grand Casino Hinckley.  “We look forward to this event each year.”

Grand Casino Hinckley has offered its powwow grounds for use during this year’s fundraising event.  The casino will also provide Emergency Medical Technicians, security, electricity, and water.

Bicyclists will ride parts of the Willard Munger State Trail from Proctor, near Duluth , to Hinckley for an overnight stop.  From there, riders will continue on the Sunrise Prairie Trail to the final destination at the Threshing Show Grounds in Nowthen, approximately 5 miles east of Elk River .  Funds raised will support multiple sclerosis research, advocacy, and the National MS Society, Minnesota Chapter’s programs and services for people living with the disease.

Participants can pre-register until June 10, or on-site the day of the event.  To register or learn more, visit www.MS150.com or call 800/582-5296.
