Two picnics were held in Pine City, Sunday. The fifth annual East Central Minnesota Pride Picnic took place at Voyageur Park. Down the street, crowds gathered at the Pro-Family Picnic in Robinson Park.

“…Mom and dad, going to watch their kids play ball, going to a park, going fishing… Um, we also want to just, being there’s an opposing viewpoint being expressed over at the Voyageurs Park I believe it’s called…” -Abe Mach (Sioux Falls SD Network on Facebook)
Abe: I think you misunderstand. There is not an opposing viewpoint to going fishing, playing ball, or taking kids to the park. These are all things that families like to do whether they have a mom and dad or two moms/two dads. And, no, it’s Voyageur Park, fyi. Please organize such events back where you come from… Not in our community. Our local LGBT residents deserve their one day they ask for each year in Pine City in peace.

I’m proud to live in a city where we are so diverse that we can be one of only 2 rural cities to host such an event….

I don’t think the Pride attendees should be upset about the other picnic, and I think the other picnic shouldn’t be offended by the Pride attendees. There’s room enough in the world for everyone to live and practice thier own beliefs and lifestyles. Quit kicking sand in each others sandbox.

Keep in mind, there was Christian music played at both picnics.
