Old Courthouse May Stay With County
The Pine City Council agreed in January to purchase the old Pine County Courthouse from Pine County for $50,000. Now, it appears the county may hold on to the facility.
Pine City Mayor Jane Robbins announced, Wednesday, that the county is considering keeping the courthouse for their operations and have offered the city to consider the jail as a location for a new city hall.
Mayor Robbins, along with Pine City administrator Don Howard and Pine County Board members Steve Hallan, Ed Montbriand, and County Coordinator Mark LeBrun recently discussed the status of the old courthouse.
According to a report submitted by Howard, who was unable to attend Wednesday’s council meeting, a price is not set for the potential move to the the jail, but said it is likely higher than $50,000.
