Mora Athletes Spend Special Day with Vikings
It is well known that the Minnesota Vikings are some of the greatest athletes in the world. Wednesday, they watched some of the best local athletes strut their stuff.
Eight Special Olympians from Mora traveled to the Vikings practice facility in Eden Prairie for the Punt, Pass, and Kick Competition. The Vikings players and coaches, including Running Back Adrian Peterson, First Round pick Percy Harvin, and Head Coach Brad Childress, spent the day coaching the Mora athletes.
Bryan Cook, Head of Delegation for the Mora Special Olympics, went with the athletes to event. He said the athletes had been looking forward to Wednesday’s big day for several weeks.
Seven of the athletes are students at Mora High School, the other is from Trailview School in Mora. Cook said he and the rest of the Mora community learn important life lessons from the young athletes on a regular basis, and believes they can show the Vikings stars a few things, as well.
The Mora athletes are now shifting focus to the summer games at the University of Minnesota, June 18th – 20th.
