*Update* “Probable” Swine Flu in Isanti County
Officials with the Minnesota Department of Health are investigating a possible second case of the H1N1 virus, also known as “Swine Flu” in Isanti County.
The Centers for Disease Control is testing a sample taken from the individual, who is expected to make a full recovery.
Senator Rick Olseen released a statement regarding the H1N1 virus, “The Minnesota Department of Health recently announced that they have identified a probable case of the H1N1 virus in Isanti County and have sent samples to the Center for Disease Control for testing. While folks should continue to exercise normal caution regarding the spread of flu, this is not cause for alarm. This case is not school-related and the individual did not require hospitalization—they are at home making a full recovery. Like always, everyone should practice good hand-washing techniques, cover their mouths when coughing or sneezing, and avoid contact with others if you are ill, to prevent the spread of flu.”
The state confirmed the first case of the virus Thursday, forcing two schools in Cold Spring to close.
The MDH has tested 224 samples and 30 more are scheduled for testing.
