Former Senator Becky Lourey has seen and heard it all as a mother.  She raised twelve children, including eight from adoption.  She talked, Monday, to a group of foster care parents, children, and advocates at the Pine County Courthouse in Pine City.

Lourey says families today are dealing with unique challenges, which can make them timid about adopting, but she says the rewards outweigh the concerns.

Monday’s program was part of an outreach initiative for the foster care  families.  The former Senator and candidate for Governor shared stories about her experiences as a parent.  She talked about balancing discipline, organization, and fun.  Lourey also answered questions from foster parents.

Lourey adds that she rarely does public speaking engagements but her passion for adopting is so strong, she wanted to share it with the people she used to represent.
