*Update* Askov Bank Robbery

The Pine County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a robbery at the First National Bank of the North in Askov.  In a press release, Chief Deputy Steve Ovick indicates the bank was robbed at gunpoint just after 11 a.m. Wednesday.

Pine County Sheriff’s Office Description of the Robbery:

Suspect #1 asked to open up a new account and sat down to complete paperwork. Shortly thereafter, Suspect #2 entered the bank and brandishes a semi automatic weapon as he pulls the slide back to load the weapon.  He uttered: “This is a robbery, give me the money”. #2 then placed a black duffle bag onto the counter. An undisclosed amount of currency was taken.

The FBI in Duluth is assisting Pine County in the investigation.


Suspect #1: White male, approximately 25-30 yoa, 175-200 #, short dark hair. Also believed to be wearing a gray CAT brand sweatshirt with Caterpillar down the right sleeve.

Suspect#2 White male, approximately 25-30 yoa, 175-200#, short red hair (possibly dyed). Also believed to be wearing a red /white checkered shirt underneath the one seen in photo. Overshirt is gray w/ white stripe.

1Vehicle appears to be a 2005 or newer Ford truck, Burgundy in color, 4 door, short box, with chrome step bars, black tool box, oversized tires and what was reported as a confederate license plate w/ chrome trim on the front.
